- Original lobby card for the 1951 motion picture, The River.Jean Renoir directed this drama starring Patricia Walters, Nora Swinburne, and Esmond Knight. The film is about the adventures of three young girls growing up in Bengal, India. This card depicts Valerie, Melanie, and Harriet gazing intensely at the mysterious Captain John.
- Lobby cards were once a popular form of advertisement for motion pictures. The publicity departments of Hollywood studios created cards featuring striking images of their latest films and delivered sets to theatres across the country. Lobby cards were created to entice future audiences and increase ticket sales.
