- This photo shows crowds gathered outside the White House for a suffrage demonstration on January 13, 1919. During the protest shown in the photo, 22 women were arrested.
- The watch fires of freedom marked a return of woman suffrage pickets to the White House. They burned copies of President Woodrow Wilson's speeches in small cauldrons calling attention to his hypocrisy in touting democratic principles abroad while simultaneously refusing to secure the Senate votes needed to pass the woman suffrage amendment.
- The nineteenth amendment to the Constitution enfranchising women was ratified in August 1920.
