- Description
- The United States Postal Service and the People's Republic of China marked World Post Day with the issuance of two 29-cent commemorative stamps on October 9, 1994, in Washington, DC, and Beijing, China. The stamps feature two endangered species, the Black-Necked Crane of Asia and the Whooping Crane of North America. These birds symbolize peace and friendship.
- Both countries agreed to adopt the art work of Zhan Gengxi of China and the layout, design, and typography work of Clarence Lee of Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, for the stamps.
- Banknote Corporation of America printed the stamps in combination offset-intaglio process.
