The Smithsonian's annual budget is approximately $1.25 billion. Just under two-thirds of this amount is funded through Federal Government appropriations. Congress appropriates funding to support ongoing operations (including Federal staff salaries, collections care, facilities maintenance, etc.) and construction and revitalization of the Institution's physical infrastructure.
