Engagement Across America

The Smithsonian is dedicated to giving people in all parts of the country an opportunity to engage directly with our collections and programming. The Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) was founded in 1951, and provides full exhibition “packages” to exhibitors in every state, from major urban museums to small rural community centers. Through our Affiliates program, we build in-depth relationships with local museums and other cultural/educational organizations, sharing a range of Smithsonian resources – collections, exhibitions, expert speakers, etc.
