Smithsonian American Art Museum

The Smithsonian American Art Museum celebrates the extraordinary creativity of artists whose works reflect the American experience and global connections. The museum's collection includes paintings, sculpture, photographs, folk art, and decorative arts from the colonial period to today. It is located, along with the National Portrait Gallery, in the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture in downtown Washington, DC. The building is one of the city's oldest and formerly housed the U.S. Patent Office.
