National Museum of African American History and Culture

The National Museum of African American History and Culture, established by Congress in 2003, will be the 19th Smithsonian museum and the only national museum devoted to African American life, art, history, and culture. Scheduled to open in 2016, the new museum on the Mall will be a place for all to learn about the richness and diversity of the African American experience, and how it helped shape this nation.
